This July, we’ll be providing Australian Prime members with the chance to access epic deals in the world’s longest ever Prime Day event. This year, Prime Day will start at 00:01 AEST on Monday, 15 July and – for the first time ever – run for 48 hours across the world, with an extra 17 hours of deals straight from the U.S. available for Prime members in Australia via Amazon.com.au.

With local deals live all day on 15 and 16 July, and great deals from the U.S. through our Global Store until 5pm on the 17 July, Aussies will be able to shop Prime Day deals first and enjoy access to the longest Prime Day event in the world at Amazon.com.au/primeday. Prime members will also enjoy free expedited international shipping with no minimum order threshold for all Prime-eligible products through the Global Store during Prime Day.

New research conducted by The Harris Poll on behalf of Amazon surveying over 1,000 Australian adults shows that more than half of Australian adults (58%) wait for deal events to stock up on household staples instead of buying them right when they need them. Additionally, almost 4 in 5 Australian adults (78%) are likely to wait for a big purchase to be discounted before buying it, with this trend being more pronounced amongst women than men (81% vs. 74%).

According to Rocco Braeuniger, Country Manager for Amazon in Australia, “We all love a bargain, and last year’s Prime Day confirmed this, being our biggest day since the launch of Amazon.com.au. We are excited to announce that this year will be even bigger, with Prime members Down Under not only being the first in the world to have access to Prime Day but also having the longest Prime Day event worldwide, with an extra 17 hours of U.S. deals through the Global Store following the end of the 48 hours of local deals.”

Prime members will find our best deals across TVs, smart home, kitchen, pantry food and drinks, toys, fashion, as well as everyday essentials. Last Prime Day, small- and medium-sized businesses selling in our stores surpassed US$1.5 billion in sales globally and offered hundreds of thousands of deals. This year, Prime members in Australia will be able to shop deals from local sellers including Brisbane based Astivita.

Joseph Mizikovsky, CEO of Astivita, said, “Prime Day last year was our biggest single day of online sales ever and it was mainly down to one product, a monitor. We are excited to be taking part again this year and we will be discounting that same product at an even lower price, alongside a number of bathroom products. We hope that customers will snap up the chance to shop our products at brilliant discounts making this Prime Day even bigger than last year for us.”
