To celebrate, we wanted to take a look at the most romantic places in the nation.

We found that Australia’s smallest states and territories are actually the most romantic, with Tasmania proving to be the most loved up place, closely followed by the Australian Capital Territory. The ranking was compiled based on romance audiobooks listened to on Audible, sales of romance novels (both print and Kindle editions), romantic comedy DVDs, relationship books, and sexual wellness products per capita between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2018.

How the states ranked on our romance scale:

1. Tasmania
2. Australian Capital Territory
3. Queensland
4. Western Australia
5. South Australia
6. New South Wales
7. Victoria
8. Northern Territory

The week of Valentine’s Day also saw a spike in love stories listened to on Audible, with the weeks following seeing romance-related listening at its lowest point for 2018. Perhaps Aussies get their fill of romance on February 14th? The most listened to romantic audiobooks on Audible were Fifty Shades of Grey Book One by E.L. James and Call Me By Your Name, by André Aciman.
